Kathleen "Bird" York is an actress, screenwriter and Oscar nominated songwriter-recording artist. As a screenwriter, York has written projects for John Wells Warner Brothers, Sony, Paramount and has just completed a one hour pilot for Fox Television Studios. She is an alumni of the prestigious Showrunners Training Program facilitated by the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. York achieved global recognition with her song "In the Deep", (co-written with Michael Becker) which appears on her album Wicked Little High and was written for the 2004 film Crash. "In the Deep" was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song with York performing the song live at the 78th Academy Awards in 2006. Her self titled debut record was released in February 1999. As an actress, York has starred in over a hundred film and television projects. York starred as a young Naomi Judd in Love Can Build a Bridge, the four hour NBC miniseries about Judd's life (the second highest rated event on NBC that year). Other credits include six seasons of the multi Emmy Award winning series The West Wing as Andrea Wyatt, Northern Lights with Diane Keaton, "Cold Feet" with Tom Waits, "A Season In Purgatory" opposite Patrick Dempsey, "Nightjohn" opposite Beau Bridges, and Oscar winner Crash. Independent film credits include Cries of Silence, The Big Day, Ball Don't Lie. York was a series regular in the ABC series Vengeance Unlimited as well as Aaron's Way for NBC. Recurring roles include Stephen Bochco's Murder One, The O.C and Desperate Housewives. She appeared on the cult hit Curb Your Enthusiasm as Larry David's masseuse "Summer" in the show's second season . Fall 2010 she will be seen in the NBC drama Chase and A&E's The Glades. Other music credits include the main theme song in Sony Pictures Seven Pounds, the televised concert Where Music Meets Film along with Joss Stone, Lindsay Buckingham and Babyface as well as featured song placements in House, 2010 season of American Idol, Nip/Tuck, CSI: NY, In Justice, Jake 2.0 and Everwood. She was the featured musical artist for the 2001 season of the CBS TV series Family Law writing and producing songs for numerous episodes. Marco Ferreri naît dans une famille originaire de Pavie. Son père, Michelangelo, travaillait comme comptable dans une compagnie d'assurances Generali, tandis que sa mère, Carolina, était femme au foyer. Marco Ferreri était athée. Après une scolarité normale et des études de médecine vétérinaire à Milan, il commence son apprentissage dans le monde du cinéma et tente d'imposer une nouvelle approche du documentaire. Il réalise ensuite des films publicitaires pour une société de liqueur, puis il devient producteur. Porté par l’effervescence culturelle de l’après-guerre en Italie, il vient s’installer à Rome et se lance dans la production d’une série de documentaires en demandant à divers cinéastes et scénaristes (dont Luchino Visconti, Vittorio De Sica, Federico Fellini, Alberto Moravia et Cesare Zavattini) de réaliser des films qui «éviteraient toute manipulation du spectateur». En 1951, il fonde avec Riccardo Ghione Documento mensile, un éphémère ciné journal auquel collaborent quelques grands noms du cinéma et de la littérature. L’année suivante, il est directeur de production sur le film d’Alberto Lattuada Le Manteau (1952) puis en 1953, il produit avec Zavattini et Ghione L'Amour à la ville un film-enquête réalisé sous forme de sketches. Il apparaît pour la première fois à l’écran dans l’épisode Les Italiens se retournent, réalisé par son ami Alberto Lattuada, dont il va être l’interprète cette même année pour La Pensionnaire où il est également directeur de production. En 1954, il tient un rôle dans Femmes et soldats le film de Luigi Malerba et Antonio Marchi. En 1956, il se rend en Espagne où il vend des appareils de projection. Il fait la connaissance du romancier Rafael Azcona, jeune collaborateur au journal satirique La Codorniz. De leurs nombreuses affinités naît une étroite collaboration qui prélude aux débuts dans la mise en scène de Marco Ferreri. Celui-ci tourne trois films en Espagne avant de regagner son pays natal: L'Appartement, en 1959, une satire de la crise du logement tirée d’une nouvelle d’Azcona dont il a d’abord songé à proposer l’adaptation à Luis Berlanga; Les Enfants, en 1959, l’histoire douce amère de 4 jeunes gens qui attendent la fin de la semaine pour s’amuser un peu; La Petite Voiture, en 1960, un film savoureux dans lequel José Isbert incarne un vieillard qui va jusqu’à empoisonner sa famille pour obtenir la voiture d’infirme de ses rêves. Le film triomphe au Festival de Venise 1960, et obtient à Paris le grand prix de l’humour noir. En 1961, en Italie, Ferreri retrouve Zavattini pour un nouveau film-enquête Les femmes accusent, en neuf épisodes. Il se charge de celui intitulé L'Adultère. En 1962, il collabore au scénario de Mafioso, film réalisé par Alberto Lattuada, puis tourne une satire de l’institution matrimoniale en Italie, Le Lit conjugal qui lui vaut ses premiers démêlés avec la censure et le place définitivement au rang des cinéastes iconoclastes.
