Impliqué dans un scandale financier, le roi Alfonso XIV décide de s'éclipser quelques mois. Quelqu'un doit prendre les rênes de la monarchie, et la seule alternative est sa fille, Pilar. Guillermo's mother has passed away and Pilar attends the funeral in hopes of convincing Guillermo not to quit his job and to come back to the palace with her.
